Once the engine has started after all the previous steps you must perform to do so, I simply forget about the primer bulb, my engine started to miss fire losing rpm & speed at wot, but went ok at idle to 3/4 throttle, once the gas flow starts to pass from tank to engine pump would like to know : what is the condition of the bulb in terms of firmness, must it be slight firm, completely firm , soft as to squeeze it again almost all the way ? firm means, not hard. Any ideas.

Re: Nonsense Bulb Issue

Depends on a few things. The bulb is basically a "fat spot" in the hose, with a check valve at each end. So it is technically under some internal suction when the fuel is flowing and the vent is open. It will likely never be "hard" if the fuel pump is drawing. But if there is a restriction between the tank and bulb, it can get sucked flat as the pump removes fuel from inside the fuel line. Typically, they are somewhere between "firm" and "soft". If the tank is mounted really low, and there is a lot of suction, the bulb will be softer; if the tank is above the motor or near the same height, the bulb is typically "firm".

Hola Paul

Thanks for the input, problem solved, was a debris obstruction somewhere after tank pick up, primer bulb and fuel filter, ran 1 gallon of gas from tank with engine hose disconnected and then same with hose connected and removed fuel filter so to clear complete line, now working perfect. My tank is a bit lower than engine and bulb is near firm when sipping,

Re: Nonsense Bulb Issue

The engine started to miss fire badly again, being complete fuel line from tank to engine impecable clean, went for a full carb strip down, checked fuel passages for obstructions including fuel pump diaphragms, all ok, reassembled again, miss fire persisted, went for new plugs, aleluya problem solved, what drives me nuts; all the time invested checking issues that were not part of the ralated problem, conclusion, better start with new plaugs change and then check other gas systems if having miss fire problems. Usually change plugs after 200 worked meterd hours, first time changing them at 130. Things do happen when you least expect them...
