Ok so i have a 85hp force from 1983 and was wondering since its a two stroke and need to add oil to the engine can i use synthetic and if i do do I always need to use it or can i go back in forth. I know in cars once you go synthetic you cant go back, is the same true for outboards?

Thanks

Re: NooB question

You can use a synthetic and jump back and forth. Make sure it is a two stroke synthetic though. A good quality TC3 oil mixed properly will do just as well. I recommend being consistant with your mixture no matter what oil you choose to run. If you mix at 40:1 and the engine is tuned to run at 50:1, then it probably will not idle well or have good throttle response and run as if it were out of tune.
