Is it feasable to use a pool noodle cut in half lengthwise as a bedding for stringers? It would be about 1/4 inch thick, foam that wouldn't hold water and easliy trim to size.

Would resin and glass "mold' around it to hold it all togeher?

I'm redoing a 14' McKee Craft and my "homemade stringers" are going in this week...then 4lb pour foam.

Hmmmm........

My only concern would be that the noodle would quickly deteriorate and leave a dead space under the stringer. Any dead space can collect water and start the rot all over again. I like construction adheasive. It stays flexible, and it wont melt away.

Best bet would be to mix up some peanut butter (Resin, chop strand and Cabasil) and bed your stringers in that. The excess is used to cove the corners to make it easier to glass.

I like and use both, peanut butter and PL , depending what I have the most of but the PL is easier and probably cheaper.

Not a chance, glue it or epoxy/resin peanut butter mix.

Definitely not. I zip tied Noodle sections to the bike rack on the back of my camper last year to prevent scratching. After 3 months in the weather they actually turned to dust at the slightest touch.
