My fishing buddy, John, joined me for some Camanche Lake trout trolling. The weather was perfect, the lake very uncrowded and nary a single lake lice to be seen - just a few other fishing boats.

We trolled down to about 30' but most action was from 20' on up to the surface. We saw fish jumping or rolling literally all day. I guess the cooler weather has brought them higher - ?

We managed seven fish between us, two for me and five for John. About half the action was on John's frog pattern Needlefish, half on small 2" Fire Tiger BBRs. John caught a 5 1/4 pounder, I caught a 4 1/2 pounder. Both were nice fighting fish. The rest were about one pounders or less.

The trout are getting pretty ugly now, every fish had sores. I guess that's from warm water? Maybe we'll do one more trip to Camanche next week and then leave it 'til it cools down in the fall.

The water is low, only the lower ramp is available on the south side.

Nice Catch! I live in Lodi and have been trying my luck at the delta near Rio Vista searching for striper. I heard the bite was red hot but I did not see any action, myself or any other boats for that matter. Maybe in the morning I will head up their. You mind giving a few tips, lures, worms, power bait, and or colors of these items. My kids are dieing to see dad catch a fish. Ol' dad cant seem to find any! lol

I do see the lure types and colors....I am going to hit it up for sure outside getting the boat ready for the third trip in a row...This time I need a FISH!!!!!
