Normal: max speed,RPM,temp on '88 OMC 3L...

Still learning... finally had the boat ( "88 OMC 3L 4Winns 160 Freedom) out on a big lake! Now I've got ?'s on what's normal, so, 4 people(500#'s), on plane, : +-35mph, <br />+-3400rpm, 160F. So are we good?<br />Thanks; Gary

If that is WOT,<br />You're running about 1000rpms Short of where you Want to be................<br /><br />mph,+ Temp sound Fine..........

Bondo, thanks for info. It was WOT what sort of things should I be looking at? Is there some issue with the preformace of the engine. Not sure what the prop is, but I don't think it is modfide from stock.<br />Thanks again; Gary

Everything sounds right except your RPM. Hook up a shop tach or some other external, verified, tach to check. Boat tachs go wacky sometimes so you might not really be turning 3400.

Thanks, I'll see if I can get a tach. It's been along time since auto shop, where is the connection made. And if the RPM is correct, whats next to look at??<br />Gary

it should run 4200 to 4600 at wide open and sound like u got the wrong prop on it like to much pitch if i knew what size and i could tell u

13.25 by 21 pitch prop should hit the spot make sure that it is ss

cobra i run a 16 starcraft openbow with a 2.5 omc 120hp and in the ownersmanual it tells u to run the sst 21 pitch and it will give u the best top end and i wish i was getting a cut i would like to know about the 16ft with the 13x19 and what kind of boat

corba sorry about the prop thing it is hard to believe that the 15pitch prop runs that kind of rpms i messed up on that statement sory
