Its that time of year again. Headn to the North Woods in about three weeks. Have homestead in Minnesota on Leech lake. Problem is they just got pounded with another 12" of snow. It was laid down on top of the 20" plus ten days ago.

The ice has not come off yet. If ya read this JB i am going up near opening day. Can't fish for Muskys til June. But Walleye,Bass and Northerns will be in. Hopefully i will be able to get my dock in. Not lookn forward to ice fishn in May

Gon,.......up here in Canada we call that south woods bound;)
Regardless, have a great trip. I'm going to be settling into a little local trout fishing myself soon out here on the left coast...can hardly wait.
All good!

I might be willing to drive 1,000 miles to fish musky with you, Jeff, but as much as I love to eat walleye I am not willing to spend $300 on fuel just to catch a few.

I have sold my boat and tow vehicle and my son is busy moving and getting married this summer so I guess there will be no Lake Of The Woods trip this year. I also haven't figured out how to transport my 6', one piece musky rods in my Mercedes Diesel sedan.

North woods fishing may be a thing of the past for this old fart. :(

Best of luck to you.

Wave when you pass St. Paul. I hope the ice is out for you when you get there. This seems like the winter that will never end. Ice is out on all the Metro area lakes...just this week. I finally got to do my beginning of the season boat test.

Last I heard, though, there was still a foot and a half of ice on Leech. I'll get a better report this evening on Bear Facts and Fish Tales.
