I have a 1990 Ranger Bass Boat 363V. I also have a 1991 Mercury BlackMax XR-4 engine. I just bought this boat 4 months ago, and have not had any problems with it. The boat has been taken out 10-12 times in the past couple of months without any problems. I decided to do some night fishing and drove the boat appr. 1 mile and trolled the rest of the time. (without any engine problems) appr. six hours later I decided to go back to the car. When I went to put the motor back in the water (merc. power lift serial #0C200344) nothing happened. I then tried to start the engine and my dash lights flickered. All other switches and lights worked (trolling, fish locators, horn, live wells etc.) My friend and I thought the battery might of died. So we took the trolling motor bat. off and connected to the engine. Nothing. So we took the engine bat. and connected it to the trolling motor, full power. I have one battery for the engine and two for the trolling motor 24V. I did check all the fuses in the boat and in the motor, all good. There is power going to the fuse in the boat for the power lift.

All in all I have power to all my other equipment except to the key and my power lift on the throttle. the manual buttons for the power lift on the engine also do not work. I'm not sure if this is a eletrical problem or an engine problem. if any one needs any more info. i'll try to supply.

thanks for any help i can get

Had the same problem with the black max i used to own. Turned out to be a poor connection on the right side of the engine ( as you stand behind the engine) under the cowl. Engine and t&t were both dead
