1990 Lucat Twister
Mercruiser 185, alpha one
Morse Incom Shifter

Shifts OK in reverse but nothing, but a little grinding, when I try to go forward. Is this a cable problem (reverse is working fine). Does it need ajustement or a new cable.

Thanks

Thanks Qystan,

I see that the URL talks about symptoms related to engine dying when shifting. Are those adjustements good for all situation(My engine doesn't stall)?

Yes, the adjustments are the same. The engine dying problem is either a bad cable or badly adjusted cable. In your case, the adjustment is biased towards reverse.

You can try shortening the throttle box cable by turning the barrel end. Try 1-2 turns each time. Note that the whole thing may go out of whack, in that case start from the beginning as described in the FAQ and you should be fine.

Thanks again Qystan, that did the trick. Off to the lake and hopefully I won't have to take it out of the water after only 10 minutes.
