Not shifting into gear.

I have a 1978 Chrysler 75 hp. It stays at a slip at the lake and went ot pull it out of the water, but it would not shift into forward it keep popping out of gear. It drove fine in reverse though????

By popping out of gear, do you mean it's slipping? Or do you have to put in into gear, or simply back-off the throttle to idle?<br />IUf you can idle, but not get it to grab when you pour the coal to it, the hub has spun out in the prop.<br />Remove the prop and have it rehubbed (about 40-50buks on your motor).

it acts like it is sliping out of gear. It will go in then slip out.
