I had to have my marina replace my shift cable because it was tripping the shift interrupt switch when going from neutral into gear and was killing the engine, I guess it was just old and rusty and was dragging and tripping the switch. They replaced it and I took it out yesterday and found that it needs to be adjusted, going from neutral into gear is fine but going from foward to neutral or reverse to neutral is very difficult, the shifter is hard to move and to get into neutral from foward I have to go back past neutral and into reverse and then push it foward again (hard to push the shifter at that point) and kind of mess around with it abit until it finally pops into neutral. Same with reverse to neutral, I have to push it past neutral into foward and then slowly pull it back until I find the very small spot that it will finally pop into neutral. Its not smooth at all and takes some strength and messing with to change gears. The marina said it is just an adjustment on the cable but they can't do it until monday.
My question is, can I take it out this weekend and go boating if I just generally stay in foward other than docking or would I be damageing something by using it in the state it is in now and I should just leave it alone until it is adjusted next week?
