Not starting after water pump rebuild

I have a Yamaha 60hp outboard and just did my first water pump rebuild.
When I put the lower unit back, I made sure both the drive lever and dowel gear were both at the neutral positions.
Battery is fully charged. The motor will not turn over in the neutral position or any position.
The kill switch has the clip in place also.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

need to check to see if you are getting voltage to the places it is needed , like key switch, neutral safety switch, start relay, etc

If motor seems locked up, then drop lower unit and double check everything....you can always put a wrench on flywheel nut to be sure it'll turn over....

Do you hear anything at all when you turn the key? A click? or nothing at all? If it's the latter, try jiggling the control lever- could be the position of the control lever versus the neutral safety switch is a little 'off'

That's exactly what it was but jiggling the lever wasn't enough. When I jumpered the safety switch it worked so looking at the actuator as I moved the lever I could see it was not depressing the switch. I don't understand why that bent out of place? Oh well, it's all good now. I hope it don't bend while i'm on the water.

Thanks again everyone!
