As goofy as it is, he may just get it. Wouldn't be a bad profit on a $30000 investment!

Re: Now, this is rediculous!

I dont see it as rediculous I see it as a man trying to get what his property is worth. Granted it's probably not worth a million bux, BUT, its worth probably half that being sold by the square foot for commercial development.

I've seen it happen here where I live. When Nissan came in and started buying land for their plant it made some folks with only 1 to 4 acres millionares. There wre others that didnt understand the way they valued the land and held out to get the same high price for their land that others got and woundup getting nothing and Nissan built around their property.

Those folks now have an acre and a half lot with a house trailer sitting on it with 12 foot cyclone fence with razor wire around top on three sides of their property. Before Nissan the property wasn't worth $1000 an acre. Nissan offered them I think 80k for the place, they keep the trailer and they turned it down wanting six figures.

It all has to do with how the property is situated and what the developers want it for.

I dont think the guy in the article is being unreasonable. I think, though, that he needs to have the place commercially appraised by an independant to see what its really worth and then set his price.

Why not, The retailors rent a building by the square foot, why not sell a piece of property that way too.
I guess it's like who wants it bad enough and how much you want to pay for it..

Plus he is just tormenting the realator.. She/he obviously has plans to take over that whole area. Push out the poor to make way for progress..
I'm sure if her competition comes along and pays the price, that will really put the plans in a different light..
She is waiting for him to die.. But if he sells it to someone that is younger, then she'll have longer to wait...
Or it could be that she has screwed over people in his neighborhood enough, that he wants to sit back and do the same to her..
I'm sure it is really getting under the skin of this realator that he isn't giving in..

The land is worth the price to a developer. The house and petty BS reporting of it makes me want to throw up. See that condo in the background? One stinking unit will pay that price

I can't imagine getting a legitimate appraisal on that property...

Funny they keep talking about the square footage of the house. Nobody wants his house.

What they want is the land and the location. Nobody says how much land goes "with" the house. If he has 2 acres the price isn't out of line at all.

While I was living in Ft. Likkerdale magnificent homes on the canals were selling for several million bux and being demolished to make room for even more millions of bux worth of house. One of them belonged to a good friend. . . .3,000 square feet, marble tiled floors, indoor swimming pool, etc, etc. He sold it for 3 megabux to a guy who promptly demolished it and built an even bigger, more elegant single family home on the 100' canal frontage lot.

The house I grew up in was built in the 70s for probably well under 6 digits. It sold a little while ago for $1.7 million. A 2200 sq.ft. 70s ranch home, mostly original, on 5 acres. In the early 90s I would be surprised if it was worth more than $200k. (my parents rented it, BTW  )

That's exactly why I'm looking into buying land around here. ;)
