Well I have a 1999 120hp Tracker/Merc/Force on 1999 Nitro185. Have had very little trouble from the motor since the 6 years I have owned it. I have had to replace reed valves on upper and lower carbs. Had the boat out a week ago and it ran great ran 42 miles round trip and only used a 1/4 of tank of gas. Put he boat on the trailer and took it home happy little fat man that I am. this last Sat my daughter and I were going to go out and catch some walleyes for supper. Well motor would not start unless I had the throttle all the way forward. When it did start it reved up and then brought rpms down motor dies. Got started again and got it on trailer thank God. Took it home put the muffs on it and same thing. Put new set of plugs in 3&4 were a little dirty not bad at all. No pop pop pop when motor did start as it did when reed valves went bad before. No excessive amount of gas coming out of carbs either as it when reeds went bad on bottom. Now what start out with fuel pump, check carbs for dirt, only thing different is put new gas filter on? Bulb stays hard. Running 50 to 1 Quicksilver has full tank of gas brand new gas. Any ideas of what next.
In the summer it would vapor lock a little in really hot and long runs. But letting it idle some before turning off cured that mostly. Help can't go fishing and lake is too low to launch MaMa's pontoon barge.

Re: Now What No Force

Welcome aboard.

Start with the basics.

Spark on all 4 plugs?

Fuel getting to the cylinders?

Compression on all 4 cylinders? (over 100# and within 10% of each other)
