ns340c 1988 diengaging shifter

hi i was reading how to repace the impeller, but how do you disengage the shifter so the lower unit will drop?

Must pull out the second lower spring pin that's placed on shift rod joint with same diameter pin tool, there are 2, upper & lower, can use same once removed if in opt condition, or place a new one.
