First off, are the force engines capable of full throttle from a dead start, or are they better when boat is in motion. Also the number 3 piston scored on the exhaust side and the top side. What could of caused that. Got a little ticked when my father in law decided to floor it from a dead stop, which scored the 3rd piston as noted above.

Re: number 3 piston scoring

ANY outboard is capable of a "Hole Shot"--flooring throttle from a dead stop.

Back to your Force: IF the carbs are set too lean at idle, the engine will run too lean at full throttle. Lean running will cause damage at or near full throttle operation, whether or not the engine has been accelerated from a dead stop. No oil, incorrect oil, or too little oil mixed in with gasoline will do the same.

You FIL didn't hurt anything.
Could be: too much or not enough oil?Overheated?Carbs not set right? The recirculation system clogged?Reeds gone bad? ETC??
