Obsolete Trolling Motor Parts

I have a 1980 model Mercury Thruster foot control trolling motor. The gears are gone in the head that work the arrow that tells you which way the motor is pointed. Everywhere I look the gears are listed obsolete. The trolling motor still works great and I would like to fix the arrow. Can anyone please offer any advise?

Try iboats first...always want to support our host..they do provide some parts for the Mercury (Motor Guide) trolling motors..
I do not see the gear in their listing but give them a call..they might surprise you ...
I did a internet search..came up with a web site that has some part numbers...need the serial number of
the trolling motor to look at the correct parts list..took a wild guess and looked at one diagram..yes the gears were discontinued
but..do a search on E-bay using the part numbers and I see some gears for sale around $25.00
found another site..lists a indicator Gear for $2.00 ...MAF06901 ..I have not the slightest idea if
that is the right part..I'll PM you some information..let me know how it gos...does it look like the one in the picture????
