98 Stingray 19' with a Merc 3.0. I'll try to keep the buildup short......boat started great but was stalling when put it gear. Any type of load on the engine was causing it to cut out but would rev out of gear great....like it was not getting enough fuel. Pulled metal fuel line where connects to carb....had pressure, gas was being delivered/fuel pump good(was surprised there was not a screen??). Could not find a fuel filter.

The boat would troll in gear, we had a seadoo so decided to stay, coast around and let our guest have fun. Well......about 30 minutes later decided to test it out again and POW!!!!!....accelerated perfect and ran perfect..better than it did..the rest of the day. There was always a slight hesitation when quickly giving it gas, but no more.

Sooo..whatever was blocking fuel delivery in the carb worked itself through? Am I good?

Ideas on anything to be done/things to check to prevent this from happening again?

Where is the fuel filter(nothing in the manuals i have)???????? Fuel system delivery diagram???

Thanks in advance!!!!

Hmmmm...stiff lower shift cable comes to mind, causing it to cut out,it should only cut it for a brief moment when coming out of gear.

Has nothing to do with the carb. The lower shift cable goes to the outdrive. The alpha drives have a shift interrupt switch that kill the ignition for a split second so you can get the drive out of gear when in the water. When the cable gets stiff from wear and corrosion it binds anytime you shift and turns off the ignition. Only thing to do is replace the cable.

10-4, thanks for the link....and the patience, learning quickly. The engine would not just cut out though, it acted like it was struggling for fuel. Sputter, slightly rev, hesitate when trying to fully accelerate. It would easily shift into gear and even accept some throttle to cruse at a good no wake zone speed. Just trying to give as much info as I can...............does this still sound like bad lower shift cable behavior?

Just read the link....Man there is alot goin on!!!!
