Hello all, I recently had trouble starting my 25hp mercury. I have had not trouble starting the motor and it is slighlty over a year old. I am pretty sure that there is fuel reaching the motor as there was quite a bit ending up in the lake. After trying to start the motor for 30 minutes I let the motor sit for over two hours figuring it was good and flooded. I then tried starting the motor again with the fuel line detached. I cranked the motor for about 15 secs and it started coughing and eventually started to run. At first it produced lots of white exhause -- like it was running too rich. After running for two minutes of normal idle speed, I decide to plugg the fuel line back into the motor and immediately the rpms dropped the motor started running rough, produced lots of white exhaust and quit after about 10 secs. I pulled the fuel line and was able to get the motor running again with out the line attached by cranking as above . I repeated this process at least a dozen times trying to figure out what the problem was. I checked low speed carb ajustments, with and without the fuel line attached and don't think problem is here, especially since motor runs fine without the fuel line attached. I'm 99% sure that the motor is quitting because it has too much fuel, but what would be causing that to happen. Thanks.
