Oddly starting process for 140 evinrude

Hello.
The engine starts oddly. When i turn the key in ignition lock, engine cranks in short phases with pauses in between. Something like: wuut, pause, wuut, pause.. then starts.

Battery is 1 year old. Throttle control handle, which is mounted separately from ignition, is old and sometimes its position prevents current flow to starter at all.

What could be the cause for oddly starts? Thank You in advance.

Bad battery or dirty connections on either the battery cable connections on the battery or the mtr. Or a bad starter mtr.

I love the wuut, pause description.

Mine goes like this...
wuut, pause, wuut, pause, wuut, pause, wuut, wuut, wuut, wuut then it starts.

I thought this will be easy, checked the voltages under load from the battery terminals all the way to the starter terminal & block, ALL OK.

HMMM? Pulled & stripped the starter motor, perfect, ALL OK.

HMMM? This is crazy?

Marked the bendix as you would a prop when looking for a spun hub and sure enough it's slipping on the first few strokes. I haven't replaced it to confirm the diagnosis yet but it's something to keep in mind.

What do you think Boobie, plausible or busted?

somethings grounding out as you suspect. kill switch assembly, bad ignition, or that neutral start switch inside the remote handle. is the wire from batt to starter good? Are grounds good?

Insufficient current from the battery, dirty battery wire connections one or both ends, bad solenoid contacts, bad starter motor. Bypass tests are the way to go after everything is clean. Solenoid problems are most common.

Or a wire that's rotted further up the insulation. In which case clean terminals gains you nothing ...

Hello Thank You for support.)
The ring broke on the carbon brush wire, inside the starter. I changed the ring and now its like new! Wondering why did it brake/burn?
