I was going to order a set of carb kits and a fuel pump kit just for piece of mind for my 1978 85hp Johnson. I found the carb kit on boats #383906 but I don't see a fuel pump kit. Do they make one? I didn't see too many positive things on the Sierra kits so I figured I would just pay the extra.

The Sierra fuel pump kit is fine. Their carb kits usually come without floats and that is why people complain about them.

I did not find a fuel pump kit listed for that fuel pump. There are both Sierra and OMC fuel pump assemblies listed.

At least it's the right shape for the pump.....marineengine.com did not pull up any kits; only the whole pump. I don't rebuild them anymore, although that kit doesn't look like it has all of the little springs and balls that some others have. 50 bucks for a Sierra and a half hour and I'm done with it for at least the next 5-10 years. I might suggest that this would be a good time to replace the fuel lines if they are original to the boat. There is a bit of anecdotal evidence that the new gas formulations are eating up the inside of old fuel lines and depositing their remains in the carbs.

The lines are something I had already planned on getting from boats.net. The motor runs I was just going to rebuild the pump because I don't know if or when it had been done.
