offsetting tiller seat

my base plate for my rear seat is in the middle of the boat. does anyone have an idea of where to put another base plate to make using the tiller easier? i know icould play with it on the lake. i want some ideas before i cut my boat. 1444 g3 jon w/ 9.9 tohatsu. thanks

My advice would be to offset your rear seat about 12 " to the right if you steer with your left arm back (most do). Offset to the left probably 18" if you steer with your right arm, because the engine tiller is usually on the left (port) side of the engine cowl.

My 14' Mirrocraft uses a right offset position for the seat as I do steer with my left arm.

Yellow perch fishing is just peaking in Lake Erie with several Jumbos (12") being caught. I "limited-out" Monday in about 4 hours - weather was great and the Jumbos were right on the bottom.
