Makes sense, seen a guy do one side at a time and put 2x4’s perpendicular to the stringers while opened that end of the cap. Then took a block and clamps it to the 2x4 sides to keep the cap from pushing out. Then have 1 guy on each side of boat pick up cap and place on blocks with 2/4’s touching blocks. Thoughts?

i even thought about ratchet straps around the cap might keep the bow out of the cap, i dunno

I found my cap to be pretty strong and had no flex to it at all. It was a bugger to get it free from the transom. But once free I just lifted up one side then ratchet strapped it to the cieling then lifted the other side and did that strap up. I found the hull way more flexible and before I lifted the cap added a brace one either side and a 5th bunk down the center to keep it all from moving around.
