Was at guntersville fishing over the weekend when my oil alarm went of beep beep beep beep. Putted off the water. Checked everything correct water flow. Both oil tanks are full. Float on outboard working like it should. Could the oil sensor have went out? If this goes out does it stop pumping oil. I disconnected the alarm at the wire and pre mixed 50-1 to be safe. Is this something I can fix myself without taking to a shop

Not familiar with your engine but on mine the beep comes from a float level sensor in the tank. When the tank gets too low it beeps like that. If there were a sensor for oil flow you could find some wiring and a flow switch in the oil pump hoses running from the tank to the point of use. I really doubt it as a flow meter would be required and they cost money and for an application as small as a fuel line, like ⅜" not practical at all and it would have to be a precision instrument. Then since the oil flow is variable as a function of rpms, like 80:1 gas to oil at idle and 50:1 gas to oil at WOT it would be a sophisticated instrument with the electronics to follow the variance.

The mechanics on here like Steelspike say that there is a magnet glued onto the float in the tank and it is common for it to fall off indicating a low oil level when there isn't one. You can tell if your engine is pumping by monitoring the oil level in your tank. Your owners manual tells you how much oil to expect to use per hour at certain rpms.

with tha pre-mix you can do this.. pinch off or disconnect tha feed from main tank to motor tank.... easiest ta plug pulse line comin' from bib right under tha starter.. mark oil level on tha motor tank and run as normal... watch for a drop in tha level in motor tank... this will tell if tha oiler is still workin'... things that set off oscillating buzzer can be actual low oil, rotation sensor, bad module.. also water in fuel sensor (usually doesn't work as should).. bad module is usually, but not always, a constant buzzer with over heat sensor taken out of tha equation....

not necessary if you cut supply from main tank to motor tank.. your watchin' for a drop in level on tha motor tank only with main tank disabled...

I hooked alarm back up and started it on muffs no alarm now. Could this mean my tank was just low. Or did it just reset it?
