hi, could someone explain the way water would mix with crankcase oil if my manifold was cracked ( mine deff is cracked, i can see it) what throws me is that the engine runs great, but after 5 min of running the oil turns milk and and i have about a gallon of water in the pan. if the manifold was cracked would i have that much water? wouldnt the exhaust gas push it out? how could the engine run so well and not miss-fire if that much water was flowing into the cyl? im thinking cracked block as well. boat was never winterized and did blow 2 freeze plugs over the winter. thanks for any thoughts!

What sounds like to much water form a manifold to fast, I think you will find a crack else where, probably in the lifter gallery--Bob

i did pull the intake and i didnt see anything in that area. does sound like too much water too fast. but the engine is only 2 seasons old and last year was used mostley in fresh water, just hard to imagine that the block cracked. the winter was not overly cold here. stinks!

a pressure test of the block/cyl heads is quick and easy. the so called "freeze" plugs have absolutly nothing to do with any protection. most likly you have cracked a block or a head. to get a gallon of water in the oil pan in 5 min would hydroloc a cyl if it was coming through the valvetrain.
I have scrapped 4 engines so far this spring. one was installed brand new in november of 04. seems the guys buddy told him it did not get cold enough here to worry about a salt water cooled engine freezing. the sad thing is its a saltwater cooled 8.1 MPI volvo :) . some one is gonna dig deep in a pocket.
so test the system but most likly someting is cracked in the block/head assy. its also possible to crack the intake under the T-stat on a V motor. what motor are we disscussing anyway ?

If the manifolds were causing the problem, you would have water getting into the cylinders and SLOOOOOOOWLY leaking past the rings to get into the oil, and even if it did get into the cylinders and leak past the ringes, it wouldn't run very good because the rings were junk and the water would be on the spark plugs.
As mentioned, you have a block, head, or intake cracked.
You might block of the water ports on the heads and pressure test the block and see where it's cracked.

the engine runs great. there is NO signs of rust on the plugs or exhaust valves. the only thing that bothers me is the fact that the manifold has visible MAJOR cracks in it.

Then the cracked too. But that isn't the reason you have water getting into your oil pan.
