what do you guys do ?

I've always been under the impression its best to change oil before storage. But I spoke to someone yesterday that was telling me its better to put fresh oil in just before using it next season since condensation will get in the oil over the winter.

I always thought it best to store it with clean engine oil

Store with clean oil for sure. If its gonna condensate, its gonna do it with dirty oil as much as clean, isnt it? The first time you take it out and run it up to temp for awhile , all that condensate should evaporate anyhow..

I think I'm going to do it now , rather than wait for next season. It seems more logical to me to store it with clean oil , than to store it with dirty oil from this season.

besides , if there's anything wrong with the motor , such as water in the crankcase or something else major, its better to find out now and have the whole winter to have it fixed. Finding out something's wrong the day you're launching it will only ruin the season if its going to be in the shop for weeks.

Yes. Always change at the end of the season to flush out acids that accumulate in the oil, and discover any oil-related trpair service that will be needed in plenty of time -- before getting ready for the season.
