Hello All,
I am going to change out my oil and filter on my 4.3 l Mercruiser and would like to know when pumping oil out, does the tube for pumping the oil go around the dip stick or the tube goes inside the dipstick tube and down to the oil????

Thanks again all,

Rick

Either. It will pump out far easier if you have the screw on dip stick type, but you won't get all the oil. (the little bit that is left isn't a huge deal) If you get a tube stuck down there, it can be a pain to get oil to flow, especially if it is cold but you get more oil out.

The best method is a remote oil drain tube. Stick it out the bilge drain, put a pan under, and drain it.

It will work quicker if you put the tube around the dipstick.
That gives you a larger tube.

It helps if the oil is warm.
