I just purchased a 12v siphon for sucking oil out to change it every year. Did it tonight but was only able to pull out 2 to maybe 3 qts. I believe my capacity is 5 qts. how do I get the other 2 to 3 qts. out?????

Re: oil change question

most likely you'll have to drain it out the bottom drain plug. Double up a couple heavy duty garbage bags and put them under the drain plug.

What engine are you working on?

I tried one of those and I also could only get about half of the oil out and it took a long time. One thing to check for is air leaks and make sure you warm up the oil by running the engine. I finally bought one of the hand pump jobs and I get all of the oil in no time flat. It sucks as fast as you can pump.

I always find it difficult to find a container to fit under the engine. What did you use to catch the oil?

I used a old bucket i cut to fit under it and removed the wood drink holder to remove it. The bucket was about 6" square
