oil coming out of water discharge

9.9 Johnson '77 - after test run in garbage can, see oily discharge oozing out of water exhaust. Dark brown in color, quite sticky, and possibly smells like gas. Is this normal or LU seal problem ? Will drain and check LU gear lube in morning. thanks

Just unburned oil oozing down from the exhaust tube. Worst it does is make an ugly stain on the drive way or garage floor.

OBJ's right...check your gearoil just incase though. If it's milky colored, have your gearcase pressure tested to find out what seal is leaking.

If it's a black sticky ooze, then it is quite normal. It unburned fuel and oil mix.
