Can anyone tell me what this conversion kit does. I have twin 1985,150,etxk, moters. I want to replace
my oil lines - mine are not clear? Does the pump in this kit still require that I bleed the remote oil tank supply
lines if the emergency transfer switch is used? Thanks!

Not sure what your kit contains but the emergency switch just activates the same pump that is used to transfer the oil. You should run the outboard at 1500 rpms and bleed the oil injection pump (screw on the pump) using premix while running the outboard. I wouldn't worry about using clear lines, once the lines are properly bled and air tight the system is pretty much bullet proof. You are still going to have tank in the boat right?

Thanks jeffersondodson561: I was looking at a schematic of my moters, and saw that they came with clear lines.
Not knowing how old mine were, and wanting the correct ones, I looked up the parts. Behold, they now offer conversion
kits! So I wonder what is being converted? Maybe they are self priming now I thought? I have had to bleed the
lines from the remote tank as you described on past occasions. I asked Yamaha: They asked me what pumps I
had - Mikuni, or Keihin, and stated that the kits have inline check valves instead of ones in the pump. Maybe this
is an augmentation that prevents the necessity of bleeding - I don't know, and could not extract that information
from them. Neither do I know what pumps I now have - I havn't had time to look - boat 40, miles away! I do not have
a kit. I have whatever my moters came with. Yes, I have two remote tanks in the boat. I am trying to determine
what benefit a "conversion kit" will offer me?

If you are having to bleed the "remote" tank (the tank in the boat), you probably need to change the filter on the tank line and probably replace lines that are damaged. The oil pump pushes the oil so a restriction would be before the oil reaches the electric oil pump.

I give up : I'll buy 2, new conversion kits, and try to figure out what they do.

Pull the remote (oil tank in the boat) on the back of it is the oil pump (transfer pump) recessed into the oil tank. Replace the inline oil filter (I think it is listed as a strainer) and inspect the oil lines leading from the remote tank to the transfer pump all the way to the engine.

R. Socey, I was told that the converion kit helps eliminate oil from leaking into the carbs after use (the keihin pumps can leak, like mine do)
