oil differences

explain, if any, the differences in oil used in water/air cooled motors.can the same oil be used in both applications.<br /><br />thanks.

I use the Pennzoil premium semi-synthetic in both air and liquid cooled two stroke motors with VERY GOOD results. Great anti wear and clean ports ect even in the little wide-open-throttle-for-long-periods-till-it--flat-runs-out-wide-open garden tools.

ddzylka,<br /><br />Air cooled engines require a high ash content for cylinder lubrication. This is needed because of higher cylinder temps.<br /><br />Water cooled engines do not need ash because it leaves deposits because of lower cylinder temps.<br /><br />Use TCW (W-for water cooled) in outboards and stick with the other for you air cooled engines.<br /><br />They wouldn't make both if there wasn't a difference.
