Hi Folks

I am just servicing my 1995 2.5 Mercury lower unit and want to replace the seals to the drain plug and vent plug. Can I use any fibre washer or is there something specific about these? Sorry if it's a stupid question but reckon I would rather ask than have a gear case full of salt water.

Cheers

Better to use the newer o-ring gasket as it reusable, doesnt stick and keeps buildup from forming around screw base. It is used on all the newer Merc/Mercruiser engines and is a yellow style seal with rubber coating, part # 830749.

Great. The last time I bought seals, I bought about 10 of em (blue was the design of the day) and haven't gone through the last but when I repurchase, I will ask for the new design.
