The hexhead on the oil drain plug on my evinrude stripped. I was able to get it out but needed a replacement. I ordered one online but it was the wrong one. I even called evinrude and they really couldn't tell me. I went to the auto parts store, found one (m12 1.25)but it is longer than the original one, it fits great but is the extra length any issue? I looked in the oil drain hole and didn't see anything that would hit it bit wanted to ask

If the auto parts store was a NAPA, they should have (or be able to get you) a Sierra plug for your model -- whatever you get, good idea to get a couple.

You might try a star socket to get out the current one (may grip the stripped out hex).

With an engine model number, you should be able to locate a replacement here at iBoats.
