Oil Filter 2011 Merc 90 4 stroke

I had a filter picked up for me at a Merc dealer. He gave my friend 35-8m0065104. I have been using the larger 35-877761k01. Are these interchangeable for my year engine? I prefer the larger for more filter area??

Unsure of your engine serial number but the main difference should be the room (length wise) you have to install the longer filter. Mercruiser categorized the correct filter by engine serial number which hopefully you use when buying any parts for your engine.

That filter is wrong. Basically half way through 2006 through 2014 used the larger 877761k01 in 2015 it switched back to the 8moo65104
