I don't want to sound stupid, but all I have ever owned was OMC products. Can someone please tell me what is the correct type of oil to use in my motor? I have heard regular 2 cycle oil (Correctly rated) will be fine, but then again, I have heard you must use the Quicksilver stuff designed for Optimax (At $29.95 per gallon, it should work good!!!) to keep the warranty.

Never use conventional outboard oil in an Opti. Use DFI oil, preferably Opti oil. Protect your investment and your warranty. The info is right there in your owner's manual. Gas to oil ratio leans-out to as much as 400:1, no conventional 2-stroke oil will do the job that lean.

What he said. Use the Opti oil from your dealer. It's just one of those things that is needed with that engine.
