Help
Having resolved previous problem with outdrive shaft not turning I assembled it and now find when I tilt the outdrive up the oil in the top compatment at the gimbal housing is running back thiough the bellows into the engine compartment floor. Is there a seal missing somewhere.

Regardless of your drive, you're missing a seal or two! :)

Guys, a 120 M/C (Thanks Ziggy).looking over your previous posts you said it was seized but changing the gimbal bearing from water damage is unlikely.Water in the boot leads to corrosion damage causing rust that eats the carrier seal up and causes oil to leak .You mention "roller bearing" did you have the inputshaft assembly removed from the outdrive?

I replaced both seals on the shaft. I believe the gimbal bearing is seized. The seals on the shaft look as if they have been rubbing around the inside of the bearing instead of running with it. Does that make sense

When I put my hand into the boot and try to turn the inner ring of the gimbal bearing it doesnt move at all.I assume the bearing is seized. would that be correct

Putting 2 fingers in and turning it should be smooth as a you know what.
Water intrusion is what takes out the bearing, the rust on the input shaft that comes next ,takes out the carrier seal in the upper unit. Do you have the official manual for the drive.
