volvo penta 275, I noticed gear oil coming out of the driveshaft bellows while in the water. Pulled boat out and found 2 inch tear on top of the driveshaft bellows. I replaced the bellows but before I put it back in why would there be oil spitting out, I can see why the water was entering, but oil? what seal is leaking? I did blow into the dipstick fill tube and heard air coming out behind the driveshaft going into the unit? What needs replaced? or is this normal?

Re: Oil in Bellows

I'd check the main bushing located in the middle of the gimbal house plate.

Tufan

If you go to http://www.dougrussell.com .Click on volvo parts and then what motor you have then click "ALL" then click on upper gear unit 275.

You can see what parts you may need after inpection of what has been worn or broken. If your lucky...you may need a $2.25 oil deflector washer! It is part # 897772 or # 16 on the diagram dougrussell.com has.

I just rebuilt my volvo 275 this week!

Hope I can help..

Rob :p
