Oil injection runs out with no alarm (Power head OK?

During the summer I went out in my boat about five times. A full oil inject reservoir lasts about five hours. While out I noticed my motor (1997 115 hp Merc OB was running a little rough and sounded ever so slightly tinnier than normal. I filled my oil reservoir without first looking in to see if it was completely empty. My guess is that it was. Don't these motors come with the low oil alarm hooked up? I bought the motor and installed it myself. How can I find out if I damaged my motor? I've been told a bore scope will tell me if the cylinders are damaged. If the cylinder is not damaged does that mean the Power Head is fine. I cleaned up the plugs and the motor seems to run better. The motor never got even slightly hot. Any help in what I should do to check this motor will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Reply to "John_Weightman@icpphil.navy.mil"

Do a compression check on all the cylinders, low compresion on 1 or more would indicate damage. Better check your alarm.

I sure hate to put these down but if the engine
seem to be run fine go ahead and use it.
I would proably run a little more oil then it calls for to start with. You do have small adjust for that or am I wrong on that if so some
premixed gas and oil.
Put make sure you do all the test to make sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do not know how you could of kept from
scoreing the pistons.
Maybe just got luckly.
Rex a. I'm with dmessy on the compression test, as that will tell the story. I also agree with Rex, that if the compression test is OK, double the oil for a Tank and run it. And by all means, fix the Alarm!! Luck only goes so far and it sounds like you may have used it up!

EDIT: Reading it again, it sounds as though you may never have run out of oil. May be something completly unrelated. Now that's luck!
