oil injection

I bought a different motor for my boat and it didn't work out for me. I gave it back to the guy I bought it from but in the new (used) motor had the oil injection removed so I had to mix my oil in my gas. Now I have 145 gallons of mixed gas. When he put my motor back on he unhooked my oil injection. This motor is 13 years old. Should I leave it like it is or hook my oil injection back up? He said due to it's age it might be a good idea to leave it unhooked. What do yall think?

Re: oil injection

I have heard of many people removing the oil injection without any problems as long as they used premix. But just so you don't have to risk it, if you are in the Denver area I will reluctantly take that 145 gallons off your hands. :D

Re: oil injection

No I'm in Florida. I think I'm going to talk to my mechanic this morning and see what he thinks.

Re: oil injection

Talked to my mechanic this morning and he told me the 2.5 ltr. motors have a plastic gear but my 3.0 ltr. has a metal gear for the oil injection and he hasn't seen any of them go bad yet. so the best thing to do is hook my oil pump back up after I burn off most of my Pre Mixed fuel. So I think that's what I'm going to do. Thanks for your replies.
