When I bought the boat no manuals or info given on the motor. 98 60 HP Merc. when I started to look at the motor there was an external oil tank after research I learned it was for the oil injection system.
All I need to due is put in the proper oil (Tc-w3) into the oil reservoir tank fill the gas tank.
No more mixing gas and oil. Thanks for any info

I did not think a Merc of that HP would have the external oil tank. They usually have one under the cowling. You might make sure that one stays full.

Merc oil injection uses crankcase pressure to force oil from the remote reservoir to the engine oil tank. This oil is gravity fed to a pump that pumps oil into the fuel line near the fuel pump.

Some think the Merc oil injection systems are unreliable. I have no direct experience with them.

Carry a spare cap for the motor mounted oil cap. Had one blow on mine as did a buddy.

One heck of a mess. Barely made it back in with a sandwich bag and a zip tie for a cap

Be an internal under hood oil tank. Oil injection usually reliable on this size of engine. As long as you check the lines and fittings etc.
