Oil leak at timing chain cover bottom

Trying to shake down a newly installed reman 3.8 SBC V6. I have an oil leak that via a mirror appears to be at where the oil pan and the timing cover come together. The crank and balancer feel dry. No sign of oil being sprayed around. <br /><br />All gaskets are new. I even put a light coating of Permatex #2 on both sides of the rubber pan seal. <br /><br />Any suggestions how I might seal this leak without having to pull the oil pan?<br /><br />Duct tape won't work! (snick)

One of 4 things,defective oil pan,pan gasket, timing cover,studs/bolts not tightened properly.<br />Permatex Black should have been put at the joints of the pan/timing cover.If used on the front or rear main seal surfaces it can prevent seating of the 1 piece gasket or the gasket slipped out of place.

Reused the oil pan, no leaks in previous install.<br />New timing cover/seal/gasket.

I went thru 2 timimg covers on a V8 before I got one that fit properly.might just be a bad stamping.

For now, I cleaned the seam between the timing cover and the oil pan seal and filled it with Permatex Black RTV.<br /><br />(After God created Duct tape... he made RTV!.....snick)<br /><br />If this does not plug the leak, I'm screwed.... pull the engine again!
