I have a 98 Mercruiser 135 ALPHA 1 that has started leaking oil from a hose attached to the top of the valve cover. It seems to be spitting out of there pretty good (about a quart a weekend) and sitting in my hull. The hose goeas from the valve cover and attches to the top of the air filter by a metal bracket. I really need to get this pain in my #@$ taken care of. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: oil leak

Fuel pump diaphram is bad, get new fuel pump,That set up prevents fuel from filling the bilge when the pump fails and boat goes "BOOM"

Re: oil leak

i think your talking about the valve cover vent hose that connects to the flame arestor and not the plastic fuel tube that goes from the pump to the carb for saftey when the pump fails

tommays

Re: oil leak

My boat was doing the same thing (3.0 Cobra ) checked the oil level, previous owner had about an extra quart in it causing it to burp up into the flame arestor and running down into the bilge. It was a lot, like you said about a 1/2 qt a day. I drained the oil (made sure I got it all, changed the filter added 4.5qts.... problem fixed.
