oil leaks out of exhaust

Hello, i have a 1968 2 stroke 18 hp evinrude outboard. I laid it down on the floor for about a week. When I picked it upright to place it on the boat, fresh oil ran out of the exhaust and small hole on the lower unit. Is this normal or does it have a bad seal? I just got it out of the shop for a complete overhaul. I do not want to use it until I know if it's ok.

My guess would be a bad seal. I just got through putting a seal kit in an Evinrude 110. It was also leaking oil when I tilted the motor up. And I was getting water in the lower unit oil.

If it smells like fuel, it's normal.

If they worked on the lower unit take it back to them for warranty.
