oil level alarm bf130

I have a pair of older 2003? bf130 hondas on my 24' Markham. When I launched for the first time this year, after sitting for 6 months or so, I got a low oil level warning light and alarm along with an extremely rough running engine. It got an oil change and other miscellaneous minor maintenance before launching and it ran fine with no alarm. Oil level is fine and I see no sign of an oil level sensor anywhere on the motor. When I turn the key on it beeps twice and the oil level light flashes then goes steady. When I start it it runs very rough and the alarm sounds continuously. Does anyone have experience with these symptoms?
