I'm wanting to change the location of the remote oil tank on my Ranger 481V. When I pulled the oil tank out, there wasn't a lot of slack in the oil line going to the motor. I would like to add about 18 inches or so. I talked to a local dealer about getting some additional line. He said most of the line comes from the factory "pre-cut" to length. It got me wondering if I'm asking for trouble by adding any length to the oil line. I've already had to replace the oil pump on the remote tank. I wouldn't think adding 18" of oil line would "overwork" the pump or draw more current from/through the ECU, but I thought I would at least ask before I did it.

Also, is there anything special about the (Yamaha) oil line ordered off boats.net that I couldn't find in a marine shop somewhere locally? Thanks!

Re: Oil Line

nope, find a real dealer.
I probably have 20ft of the stuff in various lengths from where I have shortened the original hose.
all you need is a piece of hose, the hose to hose barb and some wire ties.
