Hi fella's
I have a 1975 135hp Evinrude and am slowly learning how to maintain and repair my outboard through all you blokes years of experience, which is saving me heaps of dollars. Thanks!.I don't know if I have a problem or not but there is a small amount of oil around the outside of No 2 spark plug when I remove it. The oil is not actually on the plug but is laying in the grooves outside the spark plug hole. The other three appear to be ok. Something to worry about or not?
Thanks again
Macca
I cleaned it the other day and after a couple of hours operation it was there again.

Re: Oil on outside of plug

If you've removed the plugs a couple times to check compression/regap or perhaps overtightened the plug the washer may have been flattened out to the point of not giving a good seal. (happen to me - put new plugs in and my problem stopped) I'd replace the plug with a new one and see if it resolves your problem - may want to replace all with new and regap if it's been a while.

HI, Another thing that could cause this is if someone put in a thread repair insert and didn't get it in straight. The washer may not seal properly. :)
