I own a 1987 Cobra with a 3.0 engine. Oil pressure at idle is about 30 p.s.i. & stays right about there even on plane. I have noticed an engine noise that seems to be coming from the valve train, like a rattling noise. The noise seems to get louder as the engine warms up to operating temp. About 4 yrs. ago I had the head planed & a valve job done. That's it as far as engine work. I have always used 30 wt. oil. The engine is tuned up & starts on a dime & I have no idea how many hrs. are on her. I'm thinking of changing to a different weight oil, but I'm not sure if doing so would do any good. Any suggestions or opinions on what I should do?

Check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to verify the electrical one.

After Bondo and Don,
check the flywheel dust cover for cracks.
