Wont be long now...another month or so.....and it will be time to get the boat out.On a 97, 150efi would you recommend pulling the oil pump and checking the drive shaft and the condition of the ring gear? I replace the water pump at the beginning of every season and was wondering if it would be wise to take a llok at the condition of the pump before starting the motor.

Re: Oil Pump Drive Shaft

Well it's pretty hard to see the plastic gear on the crank through that small bore and i've seen brand new ones out of the bag look like crap and be just fine, so the quick answer is no, if it isn't broke.........As for the pump you have a high pressure/low volume type(small impeller)and I would change those once a year at the start of the season.
