I have looked around and found a couple of tables that give oil to fuel ratios but none of the ones I have found go back to a 1957 Johnson seahorse. The previous owner told me to use a 24:1 ratio. Is this correct? If so how often should I change the plugs? I imagine that this higher ratio would cause to plugs to fowl up faster.

Since it is a higher ration I imagine that I am a high amount of oil to the water. Is there some sort of oil that may be a little more environmentally friendly than others?

Hi, again, Gazelle.

Plugs are replaced about 10 times as often as they need replacing.

Clean and regap your plugs (.030) every 20 or so hours of operation. I have used the same set of plugs in an old 2 stroke for as long as 5 years.

Carry a spare set of plugs with you so if they do foul, you can pop a good set in.

Some expensive oils claim to burn more completely than others. I don't think it matters. Oil on the water is oil on the water. I use Wal Mart Super Tech.

Good luck. :)
