i have 1991 mercury xr4 150 and dont know if i should keep the oil resovior cracked like the gas tank lid or if it doesnt need to be vented and if that could make my oil alarm go off
is this a seperate tank or on the motor. if it is a seperate tank with lines running to it , it should be a pressurised tank . you will need to make sure it is sealed enough to hold pressure to force oil to the tank on your engine. any loss of pressure will result in your oil system being faulty and delivering oil. hope this helps
