 While rebuilding my 1971 45hp i noticed that my lower crank seal is missing a large piece. due to the age i cant find one that i want to pay for if its not the right size. does anybody know if sierra or mallory sells one that will work? the shaft size is about 1-1/8" and the outer diameter is about 1-9/16" with a thickness of about 5/16". any help would be appreciated!

Re: Oil seal?

Seals are standard parts. Just look up a bearing supplier in your area and bring the bad seal to him. He can match it. The later seal may not look exactly the same, but if the OD and ID are the same, it will work. Just be sure to ask if it has a stainless garter spring and expect to pay around 10-15 bucks.

I am also reasonably certain that the seal from a newer Force 40-50 engine will fit--but why pay the dealer extra for the same part?
